SpeedBoost can be used to purchase many of the items you seen in-game. Most items can be purchased in the game or on World.NeedforSpeed.com.

  • Powerups – All the Powerups are available to purchase in value-pack bundles

  • Amplifiers – a great way to boost your Level and In-game Cash after every race

  • Web Deals – a collection of the best value bundles in the game – web only

  • Car Sales – Buy cars with SpeedBoost to own them forever

  • Car Rentals – Take a car out for test drive to try for a few days before you buy

SpeedBoost can be easily bought online. You will need to login before purchasing SpeedBoost. If you don't have a Need for Speed account you can create one here.

Once you login there are a range of amounts for you to buy. Select your desired amount by clicking on the box for that amount and then wait for the Checkout page to load. When you enter your payment details you have the option to set them as a Preferred Payment Option so it's quicker to buy SpeedBoost the next time. Once you click Complete Purchase the process is complete and you will receive an email from EA confirming the purchase. The SpeedBoost should be available immediately. You can easily check this by going back to the main World.NeedforSpeed page and looking at the top-left corner where you will see your SpeedBoost balance. Next to the amount you'll see a small Plus sign which you can use to take you directly to the SpeedBoost purchase page.

You can use a variety of payment methods to buy SpeedBoost. These vary from country to country but as a minimum you can use a Credit Card and Paypal. For some countries you're able to pay using your mobile phone bill – this is listed as SMS Payments in the options.

For US customers you can buy an EA Game Card at many stores which you can then use to turn into SpeedBoost via our website. The cards are available at: Blockbuster, Target, Walmart, ToysRus, Best Buy, GameStop, 7/11 and Safeway.

Hit 'M' to view the World Map (and hit 'M' again to hide it). Once the map is open, you can click and drag on the lower-right corner to expand or contract it. You can use your mouse wheel to zoom in for greater detail.

Events will appear on the map with an icon indicating what type of activity is available at that location. Drag the cursor over the event icon for more information about the activity or click the icon to get a menu with two options: Teleport or Join Event.

Other players appear on the map in Orange while friends appear in Blue.

There are currently five types of Events available in Need for Speed World, with each represented by a different icon in Free Roam. You can drive up to any icon and select an option in the dialog in order to start the event.
